BEAM Base-Editing Program has just gone from Proof of Principle to Registration.
Last week, BEAM said it dosed the first patient in the global pivotal cohort of BEAM-302. This is in the alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (AATD).
This now moves their invivo base editing program from proof of concept towards registration.
The market reacted accordingly, and the stock went up 7% over last week.
The Q2 earning call showed that BEAM has $1.2B in cash, and another $200M from company’s facility with sixth street.
The cash is enough to push them towards mid 2029.
A clean pivotal execution will be clearest near-term test of whether base editing can graduate from a science story to a drug story.
